A week in Uni.

Today is the first week I went through in university. Lectures where pretty short because it's the first week and everything are just introductions. Introduction of the lecturers themselves, the subjects, the assignments that are going to take place and so on. So far so good to me..... Thus far I'm still trying to adapt back to university life since it was about half a year ago I last stepped into college. In terms of fashion, nothing much to say except just don't be too nerdy? Everyone in uni dresses appropriately. I suppose... Or else for sure who don't they would face disciplinary action. As for friends, still taking my time to adapt on, doing some observation. Since I'm an advance standing student, meaning I came from college into university. Managed to jump to semester two instead starting from scratch that is semester one. But..... Certain subjects in semester one I got to take it together with my "juniors". Oh well, sounds cool since once entered uni can be a senior already. Haha.
Hiccups did happened throughout the week, once was my car being blocked by a night market stall... Next was being stuck in the off-office-hours traffic jam which was pretty frustrating. And another one could just make me feel miserable... Well, I'll mention it later...
As for the subjects in my course for this semester, some are interesting and some are not. Due to not getting a credit for my "Intro to Advertising", I got to go through the class again. Sighs..... Anyway, guess it's going to be much of a refresh class since I quite forgotten what my lecturer taught me when I was in college. Other subjects that I'm having, one of it is "Chinese Language for Communication". This one, is a tough one I think. because it was a long time ago since I could write or read fluently. Now, it's clearing the rust and setting the mind properly time. Oh boy... There's "Pengajian Malaysia" subject to learn, the atmosphere just feels like sejarah class. And it's three hours straight class. Though there's break of 10 mins every hour.
At least there's "Radio Broadcasting" subject which sounds interesting to study on. But being told about the assignments that we are going to have... I kind of wonder to myself... "What trouble did I ended myself into?" Want to know what assignment that I'm going to have? Okay.. Here goes... First is the individual assignment where everyone, individually have to become a deejay for a show that each are going to have. Ironic right? I thought I can be a backstage crew to help out. That sort of thing. Not to stand in front of people and talk or make a fool out of myself. Seems I got no choice this time... Plus guess it's time to be a little bit outspoken since I'm quite shy sort of person... Oh yea, those who are reading this, can you help me to think of a nickname for me? The lecturer told us (the class)that every deejay has a nickname. Ie: Hitz fm, dj Fuzz etc. So anyone with ideas?
Next assignment which is group assignment, have to do 3 separate things. One is drama, other is 30 sec commercial, lastly is newscasting. Sounds interesting. In this case probably I may be the cameraman as well as the video editor. Hehe. Since I have the skills.
As for the incident today, I was very close in loosing 300 bucks. I was flagged by traffic police. Guess there was a speed trap along the Connaught Highway, and there were several cars who got stopped as well. Scenario went like this, I was just driving at my normal speed of 110km/h which I drive on any other day. Then ahead, almost near to Taman Connaught, there was a road block. So I just went through it with nothing in thought. And then horror struck...... A policeman called me to go to the side of the road and so I did. Wind down my window and the conversation went something like this: Police: "Berapa km/j kamu sedang pandu tadi? Kamu tahu tak kamu 'speeding'?" Me: (Trying to have some excuse) "Saya sangka had seratu-" (Was cut out by him) Police:"Jangan nak tipu, sememangnya 'highway' ialah 80km/j, kamu telah melanggar had laju, so saya bagi you tiga ratus ringgit saman ya" Me: (So what can I say? What could I do? But to offer my driving license and IC, to the police) Police: (Went aside to check my particulars, then came back) "You student kah?" Me: "Yea tuan." (Still not yet writing the saman, he (police) went somewhere which I suppose to his superior then he came back) Police: "Memandagkan kamu student, saya akan bagi you satu warning saja dan tidak saman you, anda boleh pergi." Me: (With much relieve) "Terima kasih tuan" (drove off)...
So that was how the scenario was... After that I went for lunch. Still had the stun feeling since I escaped the fiery of getting my 300 bucks summon. Thank God I wasn't punished but being let go with a warning. Next time have to look out for traps. I was pretty calm and cool looking (since I have no idea what to expect, if I'm to be punished with the summon, too bad. I have to accept it as the fact.) But being let off is a huge relief indeed and also that police officer didn't ask for bribe. Phew!! Otherwise I have to dig out from my own pocket to pay that fine. No good on wasting my money on that. Lesson learnt, hope next time the speed limit would be raised because 80km an hour is just very low!! Anyway, to God be the glory =)

First Day of Class.

So lectures started officially today for me. Good start, but experience wise is just so-so. Tuesday seems to be a quite hectic day because spent my time in uni from 8am till 6.30pm. Long day indeed. Not only that, there's two classes (one subject each) which is three hours long. Gosh... That's like a torture indeed... Had some stomach problems for no apparent reason. Went toilet twice. Not a good feeling I'd say.
So what the overall feeling? It can be kinda tiring. Since have to wake up about 6am plus. Then going home got to encounter the hectic traffic jam which I don't find any apparent reason why should it be jam when there's no accident or what. If there's accident think I'll go crazy then. Heh.
At least there was Hui Juin to keep me awake and not fall asleep. Guess most of the time was crapping along with her while on the way home. So it's only tues which is hectic. While the other days are okay. Not so bad. Quite relaxing...

Back To School- Uni.

Now I'm back to the world of studying. With almost half a year passed by... Not doing nothing but gaining working experience from some jobs I had. One was internship with an advertising company, the other being a relieve teacher in a secondary school. Now, after some decision making, decided to resume studying. Thankfully managed to transfer to university with my diploma I had. So today was my orientation day. Which went pretty more or less... Smoothly.
Went out of my house about 7.10am, fetched Hui Juin as well since she's studying the same course but then different semester than me which is Degree in Broadcasting in UTAR- PJ campus.
Reached the campus about 8.10am. Had the usual morning traffic along Federal Highway. At least we weren't late. We were kinda lost at first because there were many other students who were there and not all of them are taking degree. Mostly are taking foundation. At last we managed to sort out where we should go. Redeemed stuffs that were needed and headed to the hall. There where speeches, some talks, some introductions which were quite lengthy to me and I don't quite feel that it should be held. In short not so important. Advertisement about various activities that are going to be held throughout the orientation week.
Had a pretty short lunch break which was about 20 mins like that and so we went to the nearest restaurant and had a quick lunch and back to the hall where we were to have another talk and ended with mass call. Which some sort of orientation thingy. I got to say that some seniors (I think) who promote a certain event was more or less making a fool out of themselves. Just don't quite see the point on why they do certain action, different sort of movement and also some short presentation. For example, to promote talent time (a time where ppl can exhibit their talents: dance, singing etc on stage). They had one guy who sang, a girl fake playing a keyboard and some actions which were crazy in short. Don't why on earth they were doing that for.
So throughout the orientation, I was feeling either sleepy or bored. Not quite a good feeling to start off with in uni life. Mass call was kinda lengthy due to the speech + advice by the President of UTAR. Went to enquire some things about my course, the person in charge was on leave. Equals useless asking the person that was on the counter. And to make matters worst, went to get my car and there was night market stalls already set up. Then only Hui Juin remembered there's night market today, unfortunately she forgotten. Ended up my car was blocked by a murthabak stall and have no way to get out. In the end have to call Hui Juin's dad to give me a lift back. Have to wait till 11pm plus in order to go all the way there again to get my car back. Pathetic indeed. The stall owner told me too bad I parked my car there. "Itulah nasib" he said. Oh yeah, Hui Juin was laughing like anything which was the result.
Oh well, what a day for me. Hope I would be able to get my timetable and get things sorted out on Thursday. Or else it's going to be a tough one on when am I suppose to head to Penang for church camp. Sighs. What an "efficient" structure they have.

Beloved Parents.

Celebrated parents day on the 11th of May at IYC- International Youth Centre. Both the Chinese and English services where good. As for the presentation, came out to do a poem and singing a song for the youth presentation. Plans didn't went as expectedly for some but anyway, good comments I received. Guess it's my 1st time presenting on stage in front of quite a big crowd. I doubt I'm going to do it again. Tough task to take on. So the poem was written by Emily Tang and I. She wrote the first two paragraphs while I wrote the last three. Then I ended with a song, with Matt (who was hiding by the side for no apparent reason... Sighs...) Sang the song by Josh Groban- You raised me up. Though some glitches but it was ok... Enjoy the poem =)

The Woman.
In pain she bore the very me.
She loves even when hurt goes deep
Many things in her very heart she keeps
Only Heaven knows…
Yet in her silence she shows instead
A life of radiance and grace
Her children - her ministry
Her family - her priority
With God, all she gladly embrace.
This woman – my beloved mum.

The Man.
The Shepherd of his flock.
Loving, in his own special way
His tears so precious, they wash away
Burdens and pains, and all hard knocks of life.
He gathers his sheep too, when the wolves come by.
He is strong yet gentle, firm yet merciful
Wise in his counsel, patient in his troubles.
Sustained by God’s hands; he directs his clan
In His ways to bring Him the glory.
This man – my beloved dad.

We are ever so thankful
To have parents so faithful
And some, very youthful
Really, you are like our guru
Guiding us and teaching us about life

To say a little prayer
To our Almighty Creator
That you may be filled with laughter
And not being sulkier
To bring the family together
To a higher level of maturity

Dear God, our prayer for our parents
Is to protect them from any sickness or diseases
To give a solution for any of their problems
Filling them with many of your blessings
Taking any stress they have in their working lives
To always remember Your agape love for us.

A Day in Malacca.

Charis Christian Centre was privileged to be invited upon to lead worship in two sessions for the National Prayer Conference which was held in Malacca. Unfortunately due to C.E. (Christian Education) class held on Wednesday, we could not go a day earlier. Which ended up all of us, Danny Liang & wife, Lisa, Janice Tan, Tommy, Desmond, William, Andrew, Pauline, Ne Wei, Ps. Andrew, my dad and I had to meet up at Connaught's Mcd at 5.30am. Yeah, first time waking up so early in the morning and I got to admit it was a very sleepy task to do so indeed. After meeting up, in 4 cars, off we go to Malacca.
I slept in the car for awhile, though I woke up and slept back again a few times. But still, sleep deprived... Had a stop along the way to have a drink then we continued our journey. It was a good, safe journey and we reached location at 0745 hours. Entered the ballroom where the conference was held to set up our things. Then we waited awhile for the session to start. The place was getting to be cold-er. Eventually it was very cold indeed and my nose was giving me trouble. Which thankfully caused me to be awake. I was really sleepy that I could sleep in front of the drum set. Anyway, it was a wonderful time that everyone flowed in the Spirit. Not a song we practiced were sung on that session. Meaning songs that were not in the plan were sung instead.
Second session, I got to have a break. Danny took over to play drums. So I got to see everything that was happening. And what took place was really encouraging and for sure that breakthrough would happen in all churches around Malaysia. Reconciliation took place between the various language speaking group. Tamil, English, Chinese etc. Even the Baba-Nyonya wasn't left out as well. Some may think why need to reconcile? Perhaps you may think upon this...
Various people may have the thought that they are insignificant. For instance, English dept have so many talents while the Chinese dept doesn't have and so on. Or in other way, congregation between the departments don't blend or don't work well which each other. More towards own friends in same dept than group of friends from various dept. Tendency of doing that is indeed high. Besides that, prone-ness in looking down at other party may happen? And the list goes on and on. Probably you may get the picture now. So that led for various leaders representing the whole department be it the Chinese, Indian and so on to apologise to each other on behalf of the particular language speaking group in Malaysia and having a prayer of forgiveness and reconciliation. I was an indeed a history created moment.
A pastor walked up to me and told me, anyway I did know who the pastor was. He was Ps. Gideon who's a Chinese but located in Canada. Met him when I was in Canada with my family. So he told me to be aware what is taking place. As 50 years of bondage is now being broken. And my generation are going to be the future leaders that would continue on the work of God. Significantly that all barriers are broken between various ethnic groups. And we are able to work hand in hand with each other without any problems at all, through the agape love of God. To move forward together in unity, for the glory of God. It was an encouraging word indeed that the pastor told me.
There were many shofa-s there. Sort of like a horn thingy. When it was blown, it's like the sound of victory. Imagine that being blown during worship, prayer... It does makes an impact. Not only there were shofa, various colours of flags were there as well. Beautiful indeed.
After second session, some left for KL and some went to town for dinner. I do admit that were a lot of advancement in Malacca since I last visited. Which was probably during the church camp. There was new malls, observation deck, double-decker bus and so on. I hope KL would somehow have some "updating". Had some local food and cendol. Then after that headed back while some stayed behind to spend the night there in Malacca.
A night drive back to KL. There wasn't any jam. I think, I was sleeping most of the time. Just try to sleep at 7am the day before because was watching football- MU vs. Barca. So was super acking of sleep I'd say. At least had a good time sleeping all the way back in the stillness of the dark. At least it wasn't day time as it would be sunny. Overall, it was a pleasent and good experience indeed. And an honour to be able to serve for the Prayer Conference.
